Keep Christmas

Are you willing to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world- stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death- and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago is the image and brightness of Eternal Love? Then you can Keep Christmas.
Henry Van Dyke

Chris and I took the Christmas lights off the house yesterday. I couldn't help but be a little sad that it had came and gone so quickly. I love Christmas!  I stood for a minute thinking for all the things  I love the most about this time of year. The smell of cinnamon and pine. Watching the excitement on  my children faces as they rip off wrapping paper to see what's underneath. I love seeing all my family and friends, singing Christmas music and eating more sweets than I should.

As Chris tossed me down another string of lights from the roof I rolled them up and laid them down next to the others. As I turned to grab another strand I glanced back at the pile of lights to see this..

I couldn't help but smile.  I realized that its the expectation and the excitement that I love most about this season. Which is really Hope. So I looked up the word hope:

Hope is the emotional state, the opposite of which is despair, which promotes the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. It is the "feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best" or the act of "look[ing] forward to with desire and reasonable confidence" or "feel[ing] that something desired may happen".  Other definitions are "to cherish a desire with anticipation"; "to desire with expectation of obtainment"; or "to expect with confidence".

This girl is not packing up her hope. For my hope comes From the Lord!
I may pack up my lights, But will let the light of God shine in my life,
I will not wait until next Christmas to have an excited or expecting spirit. I will look forward with confidence. For the thing God is going to do this year.

We decorate and shop and wrap and bake and get ready for this one day.  Some of us prepare early we shop through out the year, December is stress free. Others rush around at the last minute. And then there are those who don't prepare but don't have the resources too.Why do so many of us spend so much time in to getting ready for this one day? Because we know its coming. Dec 25 comes every year if your ready for it or not  It comes.

What if we all treated every season in our life the way we treat the Christmas season?

Which person would you be?

Would you be the one who is prepared?
Would you be the person who waits untill the last minute who is rushed and doesn't enjoy it?
Would you be the person who lets it pass them by because they feel they have nothing to give?

Let's all try in this next year to Have more hope. Let's be the one who is prepared. Don't wait until the last minute choose this day who you will severe. Encourages others who don't have any hope. Let's all have an expecting heart. And for those of you who feel you have nothing to give just prepare. Trust God, Look forward with confidence. God always shows up. Prepare for Him.

The spirit of Christmas need to be superseded by the spirit of Christ. The spirit of Christmas is annual; the spirit of Christ is eternal. The spirit of Christmas is sentimental; the spirit of Christ is supernatural. The spirit of Christmas is human product; the spirit of Christ is a divine person. That makes all the difference in the world. - Stusrt Briscoe

'' Maybe Christmas, '' he thought, ''doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more.'' -Dr. Seuss

Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.- Ruth Carter Stapleton
Christmas is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas.- Dale Evans

This Christmas: not the tinsel, not the giving and receving, not even the carols, but the humble heart that receives anew the wondrous gift, the Christ- Frank McKibben

If we could condense all the truths of Christmas into only three words, these words would be:
''God is with us'' - John F. MacAruthur

You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father's face and tell him you have revived his Christmas gift, - John R. Rice

I'm choosing to keep Christmas in my heart all year. I  HOPE you all do the same.
